Battery care, storage, and longevity
Small habits that keep your battery running at full capacity for longer.
The VOLTA battery is built for daily use, but a few small habits will keep it running at full capacity for longer.
During regular use
- Charge to 100% before each session
- Don't let the battery discharge fully before recharging
- Run a full session and recharge, rather than topping up in small bursts
- Charge in a room-temperature space, not in direct sun or freezing cold
Extended storage
If you won't use VOLTA for a few weeks or longer:
- Charge the battery to around 50%, not full
- Store the device and battery in a cool, dry place
- Avoid extreme temperatures (below 0°C / 32°F or above 40°C / 104°F)
- Re-charge to 50% every 2 to 3 months if storage is long-term
A battery stored at full charge degrades faster than one stored at 50%.
What shortens battery life
- Charging in hot environments (in a car, near a heat source)
- Repeated full discharges (running to 0%)
- Long-term storage at full or empty charge
- Physical damage (drops, dents to the cell)
When to replace
The battery is rated for hundreds of full charge cycles. If you notice significantly shorter session times or the device shutting down at higher battery levels, the battery may be at end of life.
Replacement batteries are available at shishax.com.
Battery warranty
The swappable battery carries a 6-month warranty from purchase. See the Warranty article for details on coverage and how to file a claim.
