Pass-through charging during a session

Pass-through charging lets you run a session while VOLTA is connected to a USB-C charger. If your battery is running low mid-session, plug in. The session continues uninterrupted.

How it works

When VOLTA is plugged into a USB-C power source during a session, incoming power runs the heating elements directly instead of draining the battery. Excess current charges the battery in the background.

In practice: you can never run out of power during a session as long as VOLTA is plugged in.

When to use pass-through

• Long lounge sessions (90+ minutes) where battery alone might not last
• Back-to-back sessions when you don't want to wait for the battery to top up
• Stationary sessions at home or at a bar where outlet access is easy

What you need

• The included USB-C cable, or any quality USB-C cable
• A USB-C power source (5V/5A, 9V/3A, or 12V/3A all work)

Setup

1. Start your session as normal.
2. Plug the USB-C cable into the base of VOLTA.
3. Plug the other end into the power source.

The OLED screen shows the charging indicator when power is connected. The session continues without interruption.

Notes

• Pass-through only works in on-device charging mode. The battery has to be installed.
• Cable quality matters. A weak cable can cause voltage drops that interrupt the session. Use the included cable or a quality replacement.
