Buttons unresponsive or device frozen
Two common causes when VOLTA stops responding to button input.
If VOLTA's buttons stop responding or the OLED screen freezes, two causes are likely: a locked screen or a deeply depleted battery.
1. Check if the screen is locked
The lock function ignores all button input except the unlock sequence. It's easy to accidentally lock the device.
Click the Power (O) button 4 times in quick succession.
If the device was locked, the lock icon will disappear and normal control returns.
2. Recover from a depleted battery
If the battery is fully drained, the device may show no response even when buttons are pressed. The OLED screen won't light up because there isn't enough power.
- Connect VOLTA to a USB-C charger
- Leave it plugged in for at least 30 minutes
- After 30 minutes, try the power-on sequence: press O, then quickly press O again and hold
If the screen comes on, the device is fine. If it remains unresponsive, see the Won't charge article.
If neither fixes it
A truly frozen device that's charged and unlocked is rare. Submit a support ticket with a description of what you're seeing. Our team can walk you through additional recovery steps.
