Light is on but no smoke
VOLTA is heating but nothing's coming through. The cause is usually a blockage somewhere in the airway.
The screen says the session is active and the device is heating, but no smoke is coming through the hose. The most common cause is a blockage in the airway.
What to check
The smoke path runs from the Ceramic Bowl (Chamber), through the central airflow channel of VOLTA, down through the base, into your hookah's bowl adapter, and out through the hose. A blockage anywhere along that path will produce this exact symptom.
Steps to clear the blockage
- End the session. Single-press O to pause, or power off completely.
- Wait at least 30 minutes for the device to cool.
- Disassemble VOLTA: remove the top cap, lift the bowl with tweezers, unscrew the base cap.
- Use the Stem Brush (the long thin brush from the box) to clear the central vent stem. Push the brush through from both ends until it comes out clean.
- Brush out the heating chamber with the Metal Brush.
- Check your hookah hose with the Hose Brush. Residue from previous coal-based sessions is a common culprit.
- Reassemble and try a new session.
Other possible causes
- The bowl is packed too densely. Repack looser.
- The grommet between VOLTA and the hookah is not seated properly. Reseat or swap to the other size (16mm or 18mm).
- Your hookah base has too much water. Reduce the water level to just above the bottom of the downstem.
