Liquid leakage
When liquid around the device is normal, and when it's a sign of something to fix.
Some liquid around the device after a session is usually harmless. Here's how to tell when it's normal and when it's not.
Why it happens
Tobacco molasses is wet. During a session, that moisture vaporizes, travels through the airway, and can condense in cooler parts of the system. Small amounts of liquid forming inside or around VOLTA are normal.
Excessive leakage
If you see significant liquid pooling at the base of the device or inside the heating chamber, work through these in order.
1. Don't tilt or invert VOLTA during use
The heating chamber needs to stay upright. Holding the device sideways or upside down lets liquid run into places it shouldn't. This is also true for storage. Don't store VOLTA upside down for long periods.
2. Account for temperature changes
Moving from a cold air-conditioned room to a hot outdoor space (or the reverse) causes pressure changes inside the device. Minor leakage in this scenario is normal. Wipe everything dry and continue.
3. Check the silicone grommet
The grommet at the base of VOLTA seals the device to your hookah's bowl adapter. If it's damaged, dirty, or the wrong size, liquid can escape.
- Remove the grommet and inspect it for cracks or tears
- Wipe it clean
- If damaged, swap to the spare grommet from the box (16mm or 18mm)
- If both grommets are damaged, submit a ticket for a replacement
If leakage persists
If you've checked all three and you're still seeing liquid, submit a support ticket with photos.

No smoke when I draw
Three common causes when no smoke comes through the hose. Run through these first.
Light is on but no smoke
VOLTA is heating but nothing's coming through. The cause is usually a blockage somewhere in the airway.
Burnt taste or weak flavor
Temperature is too high or too low. Dial in the right setting for your tobacco.
