Wi-Fi Name (SSID): connecting VOLTA to your home network

Updated May 26, 2026·By ShishaX Support

What "Wi-Fi Name" means in the app, and how to connect VOLTA to your home network.

VOLTA doesn't broadcast its own Wi-Fi network. It connects to your home network the same way your phone or laptop does. The ShishaX app sends your network credentials to VOLTA over Bluetooth, then VOLTA joins your Wi-Fi.

What "Wi-Fi Name" means

In the app, you'll see a field called Wi-Fi Name. This is your home Wi-Fi network, the same name your phone uses at home. It's the same thing as SSID. We call it Wi-Fi Name in the app to keep things clear.

The other field is your Wi-Fi password.

Before you start

  • VOLTA must already be paired over Bluetooth. See Pairing your device for the first time if you haven't done that yet.
  • Your home router needs to broadcast a 2.4GHz network. VOLTA does not connect to 5GHz Wi-Fi.
  • Your phone should be on the same 2.4GHz network you want VOLTA on.

Step 1: enable Wi-Fi on VOLTA

  1. From the home screen, press Down (<) + Up (>) at the same time to open Device Settings.
  2. Highlight Wi-Fi.
  3. Press Power (O) to toggle Wi-Fi on.

Step 2: enter your network details in the app

  1. Open the ShishaX app and confirm VOLTA is connected over Bluetooth.
  2. Go to Device Settings, then Wi-Fi.
  3. Wi-Fi Name: type your home network exactly as it appears in your phone's Wi-Fi settings. It's case-sensitive.
  4. Password: type your Wi-Fi password. Watch for capitals, numbers, and symbols.
  5. Tap Connect.

VOLTA will attempt to join the network. You'll see a confirmation on the device and in the app once it's connected.

If Wi-Fi connection fails

There are two common causes.

  1. Wrong Wi-Fi Name or password. Re-check both. The name is case-sensitive. Passwords often include characters that look similar (zero vs letter O, lowercase L vs capital I).
  2. Your phone is on 5GHz Wi-Fi. VOLTA only connects to 2.4GHz. Switch your phone to the 2.4GHz version of your network and try again.

If the problem still happens, reboot VOLTA, confirm your phone is on 2.4GHz, and run the setup again.

How to tell if your network is 2.4GHz or 5GHz

Most modern routers broadcast both. They often show up as separate networks, like:

  • MyNetwork (2.4GHz)
  • MyNetwork-5G (5GHz)

Connect your phone to the 2.4GHz version before running VOLTA Wi-Fi setup. If your router only shows one network name and you're not sure which band it's using, check your router's app or admin page, or contact your internet provider.
