Updating VOLTA firmware over the air (OTA)
Install firmware updates over Wi-Fi. No cables, no computer.
VOLTA can update its own firmware over Wi-Fi. No cables or computer needed. Here's how to install updates when they're available.
What you need
- Your VOLTA, powered on
- Wi-Fi network access
- VOLTA paired to the ShishaX app
- A stable charge (50% or higher recommended)
Before you start
OTA updates require Wi-Fi connectivity. If you haven't set up Wi-Fi on your VOLTA yet, follow the Pairing your device article first.
How to start an OTA update
- From the home screen, press Down (<) + Up (>) to open Device Settings.
- Highlight OTA Firmware.
- Press Power (O) to start.
If an update is available, the screen switches to OTA In Progress with a loading indicator.
During the update
- Keep VOLTA powered on and within range of your Wi-Fi network
- Do not press buttons during the update
- The update typically takes a few minutes
- VOLTA restarts automatically when complete
If the update fails
- Confirm VOLTA is still on Wi-Fi
- Make sure the battery is above 50%
- Try again in a few minutes
- If the device becomes unresponsive, see the Troubleshooting articles
When to update
We push firmware updates when there's a meaningful improvement: bug fixes, new features, performance tuning. There's no scheduled cadence. The OTA Firmware option in the menu will only become active when an update is available for your device.
